In response Granite ball in San
Diego... by alex........ yes I've seen something
similar...It was a large marble ball resting in a perfectly
fitting socket .... suppose the ball weighs 200Kg. and the
water pressure is half an atmosphere (very modest), that can
exert a pressure of about half a kilo(weight) per square cm.
...so the socket would only need a diameter of about 10cm.
to make it float..(water enters at bottom of socket) the cup
or socket has to perfectly fit the ball for the water
pressure to be transferred to ball
